Firmware Update Guide
How to safely update firmware on all MOZA Flight products using the MOZA Cockpit Firmware Manager.
Important: Never disconnect power or USB during a firmware update. Doing so may permanently damage the device. Ensure your PC does not enter sleep mode during the update process.
Why Update Firmware?
Firmware updates provide:
- Performance improvements and bug fixes
- New features and functionality
- Enhanced force feedback algorithms
- Improved game compatibility
- Expanded third-party peripheral support
Before You Update
Pre-Update Checklist
- Ensure MOZA Cockpit is running the latest version
- Connect the device directly to a PC USB port (not through a USB hub)
- Verify the device is powered on and recognized by MOZA Cockpit
- Close all games and simulation software
- Disable any USB selective suspend or power-saving settings
How to Update Firmware
The firmware update process is the same for all MOZA Flight products — flight bases (AB6, AB9), throttles (MTQ, MTP), flight sticks (MH16, MA3X), and yokes (MFY).
Open the Firmware Panel
In MOZA Cockpit, click the firmware upgrade management button located at the bottom left corner of the interface. This opens a panel showing the firmware versions of all connected MOZA devices.
Launch Firmware Manager
Click Firmware Manager in the top right corner of the panel. MOZA Cockpit will prompt you to close the software — this is required before the firmware tool can launch. Click Confirm to proceed. MOZA Cockpit will close and the standalone Firmware Manager will open.
Option A: Online Update
Update via Internet
In the Firmware Manager, ensure Online Update is selected (enabled by default). The tool will check for the latest firmware for each connected device. Select the device you want to update and start the upgrade. A progress bar will appear — the device may restart several times during the process. Do not disconnect any cables or close the tool until the update completes.
Option B: Offline Update (.bin file)
Update via Offline Package
If you have a firmware .bin file for offline updating, deselect "Online Update" in the Firmware Manager. Then drag the .bin file directly onto the corresponding device icon to start the upgrade. If your desktop environment does not support file dragging, click the "change" button in the top right corner, select the directory where the .bin file is located (not the file itself), then choose the correct firmware version for your device.
Firmware Manager Version
Ensure your Firmware Manager is version 1.1.1.21 or higher for full compatibility with the latest devices and firmware packages.
After the Update
Once the firmware update completes successfully, launch MOZA Cockpit again. Your device should appear with the new firmware version. Recalibrate the device by running the calibration routine in MOZA Cockpit to ensure accurate axis and force feedback performance with the new firmware.
Troubleshooting
The firmware update failed — what should I do?
Do not disconnect the device.
- Wait 2 minutes — some updates include automatic retry
- If still stuck, close the Firmware Manager and reopen it
- The tool should detect the incomplete update and offer to retry
- If the device is no longer recognized, try a different USB port and restart the Firmware Manager
- If problems persist, contact MOZA Support with your device model and the firmware version you were attempting to install
MOZA Cockpit says "Device not found" after an update
Try the following in order:
- Restart your PC
- Try a different USB port (preferably USB 3.0 directly on the motherboard)
- Check Windows Device Manager for any unrecognized devices
- Reinstall MOZA Cockpit
Can I downgrade to an older firmware version?
Firmware downgrades are not generally recommended and are not available through the standard online update process. If you need to roll back for a specific reason, contact MOZA Support for assistance.
