Complete guide to MOZA Cockpit software: installation, preset management, calibration, firmware updates, and advanced configuration.
Installing MOZA Cockpit
- Download the latest MOZA Cockpit from the MOZA Cockpit Download page
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions
- Launch MOZA Cockpit before connecting any MOZA Flight hardware
- Allow the software through Windows Firewall if prompted — this is required for telemetry communication
Administrator Mode: For full functionality, especially telemetry force feedback and game integration, run MOZA Cockpit as Administrator. Right-click the desktop shortcut and select Run as administrator, or configure the shortcut to always run elevated.
Interface Overview
MOZA Cockpit organizes settings by device. Each connected MOZA Flight device appears in the left sidebar. Select a device to access its calibration, force feedback, and configuration pages. The top bar shows firmware version, preset selection, and global settings.
Preset Management
Loading a Preset
Select a preset from the dropdown menu at the top of the MOZA Cockpit window. Presets are organized by game and aircraft type. Loading a preset applies the recommended force feedback, button mapping, and telemetry settings for that game/aircraft combination.
Creating a Custom Preset
- Start from an existing preset that is closest to your needs, or start from a blank preset
- Adjust force feedback, axis curves, and button mappings to your preference
- Click Save As and give your preset a descriptive name (e.g., "F-14 Custom – Light Springs")
- Your custom preset will appear in the preset dropdown for quick access
Blank / Custom Presets
A blank preset starts with no predefined settings — all force feedback, centering, and mappings must be configured manually. Use a blank preset when:
- Playing a game without an official MOZA preset
- You want total control over every setting without any defaults
- Creating a specialized configuration (e.g., force-sensing only, no centering)
Game Path Configuration
MOZA Cockpit needs to know your game installation paths to enable telemetry integration:
- Open MOZA Cockpit Settings (gear icon)
- Navigate to the Game Paths section
- Add the installation folder for each flight simulator
- MOZA Cockpit will auto-detect common installation paths (Steam, standalone)
Reporting Issues
If MOZA Cockpit crashes or encounters an error:
- The error report dialog will appear — follow the prompts to send the report
- Include a description of what you were doing when the issue occurred
- If the report fails to send, note the error details and submit them via a support ticket
- Check for software updates — many issues are resolved in the latest version
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are some sections of the software documentation blank?
MOZA Cockpit is actively developed with new features added regularly. Some documentation sections may be updated in a future software release. In the meantime, refer to the MOZA support knowledge base or contact support for assistance with specific features.
How do I switch between the MSFS 2020 and 2024 presets?
Both presets are available in the dropdown menu. Select the one matching the version you are playing. The telemetry output format differs slightly between MSFS 2020 and 2024 — using the wrong preset may result in telemetry disconnection or incorrect force feedback behavior.
