Gear Drive System

The AB6 employs a precision gear drive system rather than a belt drive. This provides direct, responsive force feedback with excellent torque transfer. A slight mechanical sensation when the base is powered off is normal and is characteristic of gear-driven systems. After installation and calibration, run Cogging Torque Calibration in MOZA Cockpit to minimize gear sensation during operation.

Setup & Calibration

  1. Mount the AB6 on a desktop mount or rig using the base mounting holes
  2. Connect the power adapter and USB cable
  3. Press the power button (approx. 1 second) — the power LED will illuminate
  4. Windows will detect the device as "MOZA AB6 FFB Base"
  5. In MOZA Cockpit, navigate to the AB6 page and run Calibration
  6. Run Cogging Torque Calibration from the stick settings page

Desktop Mount Note: Slight flex in the desktop mount under high force is normal. For maximum rigidity, mount the base directly to a fixed rig or cockpit.

Button & Slider Configuration

The AB6 base includes 8 RGB-backlit buttons and 2 axis sliders. These are fully customizable:

  • Buttons: Assign to landing gear, exterior lights, autopilot functions, or any game command in DCS/MSFS/X-Plane
  • Sliders: Ideal for throttle axes, speed brake, flaps, or view zoom
  • RGB Lighting: Configure button colors in MOZA Cockpit on a per-button basis

Active Shifter Mode

The AB6 can be configured as an active shifter via MOZA Pit House. When in shifter mode, the base provides programmable detents and force profiles for sequential or H-pattern shifting. Switch back to flight mode through the device configuration page.

Frequently Asked Questions

The AB6 has a mechanical "gear feel" — is this normal?

Yes. The AB6 uses gear-driven transmission. A subtle mechanical sensation, especially when the base is powered off, is entirely normal. To minimize this during operation, run the Cogging Torque Calibration in MOZA Cockpit after mounting your grip.

MOZA Cockpit does not recognize the AB6

Verify the base is powered on (check the power LED next to the power button). Press the power button for approximately 1 second. Check Windows Game Controllers (Win+Rjoy.cpl) — the AB6 should appear as "MOZA AB6 FFB Base". If visible in Game Controllers but not in MOZA Cockpit, run MOZA Cockpit as Administrator.

Can I use the AB6 with third-party flight sticks?

The AB6 uses a standard flight sim grip interface. Grips with compatible mechanical and electrical interfaces can be connected. After installing a third-party grip, run calibration and cogging torque calibration in MOZA Cockpit. For third-party grips, use the manual stick configuration in MOZA Cockpit to set up button mappings.

What games does the AB6 support?

The AB6 is compatible with a wide range of flight simulation titles, including DCS World, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024, X-Plane 11/12, IL-2 Sturmovik series, War Thunder, and Star Citizen. The base can also function as a generic DirectInput device with any game that supports joystick input — simply configure axes and buttons in the game's control settings.

Can I use an extension rod between the AB6 and my grip?

Yes. Any extension with the correct data interface on both ends can be used. After installing an extension, you must run the Cogging Torque Calibration and recalibrate the base in MOZA Cockpit. Note that extensions increase leverage and may reduce perceived torque at the grip.

Is a dust cover included with the AB6?

The AB6 package includes the base unit, power adapter, USB cable, and mounting hardware. A dust cover is not included as standard. We recommend covering the base when not in use to protect it from dust and debris.

Can the AB6 be mounted on third-party rigs or brackets?

Yes. The AB6 uses standard mounting hole patterns. Refer to the product dimensions and hole spacing diagram in the Product Dimensions article for exact measurements.
